I have a fantastic conversation about how to thrive during this time and connect with your identity. Unfortunately, identity is something we’ve all lost a little… or maybe even a lot… losing our identity and connection to that which makes us… well US… can cause a lot of problems. It’s a tough time and our desire is to help you to reconnect with your identity, so you can thrive right NOW!
Joining me on this episode is Nick Armstrong, organizer of Fort Collins Comic Con and Fort Collins Startup Week, as well as the owner of WTF Marketing. Nick is a prolific and renaissance geek. Meaning, he’s a geek at heart and yet has many interests and talents.
I asked Nick what he thought people needed right now. He told me 3 things that really sparked my interest and I found to be very true. These 3 things are:
Nick and I are going to talk about these things on today’s episode!
Spring is officially here and just starting to show itself! We welcome Mangodroplet BACK to give us the TRUTH about the virus. She works on the front lines and knows what's actually going on. Our intention is to give you the truth about the virus in order to make sure you're taking it seriously, but also NOT fearing it nor freaking out. We WILL get through this together. We really have a great discussion about unleashing our superheroes in this time. AND, it’s also time to end the week right, nerd out, and have some FUN!
Welcome back to TRB Reviews! This week, we’re discussing the season finale of Star Trek Picard: Episode 10! We hope you’ve enjoyed season 1 of Star Trek: Picard. We sure have! Listen in to hear our thoughts on this amazing episode!!
As promised, Abel James returns! Abel was on The Real Brian Show on episode 65 back in 2017. We, of course, chat about health... since he knows a thing or two about that. Abel and his wife, Alyson, dealt with carbon monoxide poisoning recently and he’ll be sharing what happened with that and how they have overcome and detoxed from that unfortunate experience. AND, we’ll talk about his crazy experiences with producing video, his new book - “Designer Babies Still Get Scabies,” and I know we’ll be nerding out on music and other various things.
Abel James is a New York Times Bestselling Author, Musician, and Online Creator. He’s host of the Fat-Burning Man Show, considered one of the “Top 3 Health & Fitness Podcasts of All Time” by Huffington Post.
Abel has worked with thousands of people across the world to optimize performance, mindset, health and longevity. Abel is named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Health and Fitness.
Abel is also a recording artist, multi-instrumentalist, and voice actor and he enjoys playing guitar and piano, writing, reading, sketching, running, hiking, and discovering delicious foods with family and friends. He lives with his wife, Alyson, and a rambunctious yellow lab in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
Abel is the author of The Wild Diet (an incredible book that Sarah and I still use and follow regularly). Quick side note - we’ve been using Abel and Alyson’s recipes in this book for years and when we cracked down on being intentional over Christmas and New Year’s about cooking at home and utilizing these recipes, as well as getting more intentional exercise, that’s when I was able to drop 13 pounds in 6 weeks and get my blood work numbers back in line.
Abel’s new book of irreverent poetry is called “Designer Babies Still Get Scabies,” a #1 International Bestseller in Humor. And it’s good!
It’s FRIDAY! I hope we’ve been giving you more than enough episodes to fill your weeks! We’ve been getting Inspired and unleashing our superheroes, while dealing with some tough times recently. It’s TRB UNLEASHED! Welcome back! Happy Monday! Now, I said we’d have Abel James on the show today, but I decided to push that back to next Monday because I wanted to have a timely chat with our friend Bentastic about how you can make the most of this time while we’re isolated together.
I know I mentioned we'd stay away from talking about the current situation, but this has affected us in more ways than any of us anticipated. So our conversation today revolves around ways you can make the most of this time with your loved ones: family, spouse, significant others, kids, etc. We also talk about ways you can practice self care and balance, so you can stay at the top of your game!
Bentastic is a long-time listener and friend who is currently helping special needs parents build and maintain strong, fulfilling relationships with their partners and children, while maintaining a healthy personal balance. He'll be sharing specific tips that he and his family are currently doing to thrive during this time!
Happy Friday! It’s time to unleash our inner nerds and superheroes! We’ll quickly address what’s going on with COVID-19 and share our commitment to you. But then, we’re moving on, because we are the positive voice and encouragement in this crazy time. We have to nerd out today, have FUN, and BE BRAVE!
It’s another episode of TRB Reviews! We’re continuing our discussion of Star Trek: Picard!! This week, we’re discussing episode 8! Man… only 2 episodes left of season one of Picard… Welp! These are spoilery reviews so take us through the Borg conduits!!
It’s official!! The time has finally arrived! The interviews are BACK! We’re here to help you become the superhero you are meant to be and reclaim your life and your passions and not apologize for it.
Joining me today is Blue Phoenix (Spencer), who is actually an old friend of mine. He has an incredibly powerful and, yet, difficult story to share with us today. He’s been through a lot in his life, and yet his attitude and response to these challenges is an amazing inspiration on how he’s overcome and unleashed his superhero.
Spencer had an arrest of his heart years ago that caused him to, essentially, die for 11 minutes. Thankfully, he was brought back to life and to recovery. Unfortunately, the down time caused his kidneys to eventually fail, leading to the need for kidney dialysis and the search for a kidney donor. It took both of these events to create a wake up call for Spencer.
Spencer's attitude and response to these things is an amazing example of someone who has and continually unleashes his superhero on a daily basis. It's an inspiring and empowering episode to help each of us to look for the good and the positive in our lives, regardless of our circumstances.
If you or anyone you know has dealt with kidney failure and would like to talk with Spencer, OR, if you or someone you know would be interested in donating a kidney, please contact Spencer on the The Real Brian Show Facebook Group! Either way, he'd love to hear from you!
Happy almost St. Patrick’s Day, March Madness, and Spring! We’re so close to so much joy!!! And yet, we have so much joy to be thankful for right now. We are going to unleash our superhero today and my goal is to help you become the superhero you are meant to be. We’re also, as always, nerding out on a lot this week, including new music, gaming, tv shows, what it takes to succeed with a podcast in 2020, and so much more! And it’s FRIDAY!!
It’s TRB Reviews! We’re continuing our discussion of Star Trek: Picard!! This week, we’re discussing episode 7! These are spoilery reviews... shields up and perimeter scans to max!
March came in like a Dementor! Or was that a dragon?... No?... A lion?... What? That doesn’t make any sense. March came in like a lion?!? Who comes up with this crap?!? Well, The Real Brian Show is coming in like a Flaming Monkey with a Taiwanese Fricken Chicken that just mastered Magic The Gathering! SO BOOYAH SUCKAS!
Lord Thunder returns and we chat about his time and experiences in Japan, virtual reality, networking, some tv shows (including Raising Dion, I Am Not OK With This, Altered Carbon, The Rookie, Star Trek: Discovery, and Locke and Key), what movies are coming out that we're excited to see, and a few other things we're nerding out on. AND, my computer is BUILT and working!!!
It’s TRB Reviews! An episode where we review movies, tv shows, and more! It’s time to chat about episode 6 of Star Trek: Picard!! These are spoilery reviews, so do as Locutus says.

The Mad Scientist RETURNS! We have to share some FUN pieces of encouragement to help you unleash your superhero today and we are going to nerd out like we’ve never nerded out before!! Plus, we learn a very valuable less in our discussion today: if you can't get it in real life... get it in a video game!
Welcome to TRB Reviews! A bonus episode where we review movies, tv shows, music, products, you name it. It’s something new we’re rocking. This week, we’re discussing episode 4 of Star Trek: Picard!! These are spoilery reviews, so set phasers to stun, and make it so!
I don’t know about you, but I have an episode 200 hangover… that was a lot of fun last week looking back on 200 episodes and casting a vision for the future. So today, we’ll take it a little easy, relax, nerd out, discuss our thoughts on Locke and Key and the Harley Quinn/Birds of Prey movie, and we’ll share some fun stories! But what does it all mean? What is it that I want?
In a word...
CHAOS!
